BoXXXee 2.0 hits the streets!!

// June 25th, 2009 // boxee

Coinciding with the latest software update for Boxee,  we have released a fully redesigned version of BoXXXee, the original adult app for Boxee.  With our team fully in place, we’re going to be delivering lots of new apps and content from here on out.  Get Ready!

Features for the new version include:

  • Over 4000 full-length adult films, some over 4 hours long
  • Nearly 100 niche categories
  • Buffer-free playback
  • Instant seeking. Fast forward or rewind through the whole movie at any time to find the scene you like (there is a bug in Boxee version 9.12 that disables all seeking controls.  It will be fixed in 9.13 and affects many other apps.  If you already have 9.11, wait until 9.13 is released before upgrading)
  • Compatibility with all operating systems (Windows, Mac, AppleTV, and Linux)
  • Privacy Assured! Content watched in BoXXXee will not be reported to the Boxee servers (put in your feed, sent to Twitter, etc) and it will not appear in your history.

To get BoXXXee, simply add our repository in your App Box:

http://www.boxxxee.com/repository

If you haven’t checked out Boxee yet, you are missing out! Visit them here.

Note: If you already have BoXXXee 1.0 and wish to upgrade you may need to first remove the app from My Applications in your App Box and then re-add version 2.0 from New Apps.

When attempting to play a video, what I believe to be python code is shown on the screen instead of playing the video. I am running version 2.0 on the version of Boxee released today on Mac OSX 10.5.7.

  2. JFRESH says:

2.0 spits out a bunch of code on screen when clicking onto a movie. No movies are playable . I am on appletv 2.4 and boxee 0.9.12.6566.

We are aware of this. This is a bug in version 9.12, one of MANY MANY bugs being reported across the board. As you can see, in this post, we even specify that 9.12 is very unstable. 2.0 works fine on 9.11. Many apps, including CBS and Comedy Central are broken in 9.12. Hopefully Boxee is adressing this, but in the meantime, we’d suggest using 9.11 until 9.13 is released.

If you downloaded BoXXXee 2.0 and it spits out what looks to be python code when attempting to load a video, please remove the app and add it again. There was an incompatibility issue between the compatible code in Boxee versions 9.11 and 9.12 that has now been rectified.

hello, and congrats for making boxxxee!
I just installed it on the latest boxee.tv version for windows xp, and my problem is that when i click on a movie (i am able to browse on boxxxeee down to the category level and get the list of movies available), the “loading” icon appears (after clicking on a movie), and stays there forever — i even left it for 30 minutes, and nothing happened…

    how can i fix this?
    thanks!

    ValleyMonger,

There have been issues reported with apps (not just ours, but many others) breaking, in the way you describe) if you do not fully uninstall Boxee when installing the new version. If you just “upgrade” without uninstalling, these errors can occur. The latest versions of BoXXXee (2.0) and Boxee P.O.V has been tested and works on a fresh install of the latest Boxee (9.12) on Windows XP.

    thanks admin.
my first install of boxee was a couple of days ago, and version is 0.9.12.6569 (no reinstall, since as i said, it is my first time using boxee).
should i fully uninstall it and install it again? I don’t see how it would help, but we’re talking about windows after all :-)

    any other ideas?
    thanks!

  8. valleymonger says:

so, I uninstallid boxee fully, and installed the new version (0.9.12.6570), and still have the same issue :-(

  9. c says:

I upgraded to version 9.13, and I am still seeing the Python code when trying to play a movie. I tried removing and adding the repository again, both from the website and from the official Boxxee repository, and it does not correct the problem. All my other apps work, after downloading and installing the latest .NET. Any ideas?

The latest version of Boxee is 9.14. You shouldn’t be able to download it from the main Boxee repository unless you are 9.14 or later. You may need to uninstall Boxee and delete your userdata folders to do a completely fresh install. that should solve your problem.

  11. c says:

    Sorry, I meant 9.14.

  12. hellfish says:

I’m on boxee 9.14 on Windows XP (completely uninstalled previous version, including profile), and Boxxxee doesn’t work for me; same as “Valleymonger” above. Boxxxee P.O.V. works perfectly. I just get that code when I go to play a movie. I’m also on .net 3.5.

  13. c says:

Nope, still having the same problem.

  14. g says:

9.14 and I see the python garble crap as well.

  15. j says:

Same problem for me. Fresh install of 9.14 and only error messages when trying to watch videos.

  16. s says:

Yeah, POV works in 9.14 but not the Boxxxee app. Code and an “OK” button. Never had it installed before so it’s not a matter of my Boxee install.

  17. admin says:

OK guys the app has been fixed. There was a minor problem switching from our repository into the official Boxee repo. Should be all fixed now. Enjoy and thanks for the feedback. We appreciate it.

Just uninstall the BoXXXee app you have and install the latest version of it from the app box (v 2.03)

  18. Pedro says:

The code problem still happening here!

  19. ja says:

I’m on Boxee 0.9.14.6795 and just uninstalled boxxxee and reinstalled. In fact I think I installed for the first time today so version was and is now 2.03. I get the same problem as reported by others. POV works fine.

  20. ja says:

I just tried the same in Boxee on an Apple TV and it works fine. That’s with same version of Boxee and Boxxxee as fails for me in Vista. Perhaps I need to uninstall Boxee in Vista and reinstall.

  21. admin says:

If you have been upgrading Boxee by simply installing a new version, this has been known to cause some problems. I think they have fixed those issues with 9.14, but we have tested the new version fo BoXXXee on Mac, AppleTV, Linux and Windows XP. Boxee has also tested the latest version in their repository. Try not just uninstalling but removing completely your userdata folder. You will know if this has been successful because you will have to re-enter your username and password the first time you use Boxee after your install.

  22. ja says:

Thankyou. The complete uninstall/reinstall fixed it.
